2026 Annual Convention!
Each year in August, SCAJ members gather together for three exciting days at the Hilton Resort & Spa on Hilton Head Island. Featuring a dozen seminars delivered by leading legal experts, the convention provides members a chance to qualify for 12 CLE credits which includes two ethics credits. Seminar topics range from ethics, torts and negligence, workers compensation, employment law, social security, criminal law to environmental law. The convention is also an excellent networking opportunity, allowing you to meet with leaders in your areas of practice and join the lively exchanges that take place during the seminars and social events.

Dear SCAJ Members and Guests,
On behalf of the South Carolina Association for Justice, welcome to our 2026 Annual Convention! Each year, this Convention provides an opportunity to step away from the demands of our practices, reconnect with colleagues from across the state and focus on the work that unites us. Whether you are here for the excellent CLE programming, the opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow legal professionals or simply to spend time with friends and family, we are grateful to have you join us!
This has been another important year for SCAJ. Together, we have continued to stand up for the rights of South Carolinians and the integrity of our civil justice system. While the challenges before us continue, so does our commitment to meeting them together.
Through the Protect SC Families Fund, SCAJ works to educate the public and respond to well-funded efforts by insurance companies and corporate interests to weaken individual rights. I encourage you to scan the QR code on this page and consider supporting this important work.
One of SCAJ’s greatest strengths has always been our willingness to learn from one another. I hope you will take full advantage of the practical insights, timely legal updates and conversations throughout the weekend, while also enjoying time with colleagues, friends and family.
An event of this caliber would not be possible without the dedication of many people. My sincere thanks to Convention Chair Frank Eppes, CLE Chair Pam Mullis, our Section Chairs, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and especially the outstanding SCAJ staff: Courtney Barts, Kenny Hastie, Michael Gunn, Melissa McGee and Melissa Sipes. Their months of planning and hard work make this event possible, and I hope you will join me in thanking them throughout the weekend.
Thank you for your commitment to SCAJ, to your clients and to preserving access to justice for all South Carolinians. It has been an honor to serve as your President, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside each of you.
Looking ahead, I am excited to pass the gavel to my friend and colleague, Kevin Dean. Kevin’s leadership, experience and unwavering commitment to SCAJ make him exceptionally well prepared for this role. I know he will lead our Association with integrity and purpose, and I look forward to supporting him in the year ahead.
