The South Carolina Association for Justice (SCAJ) is proud to announce the recipients of this years annual awards. The awards will be presented during SCAJ’s annual convention in August in acknowledgement of these legal leaders and their contributions to justice:
2024 Outstanding Contribution to Justice Portrait Honoree:
The Honorable Donald C. Coggins Jr.
In recognition of a strong record of exemplary leadership on the bench.
2024 Founders’ Award Recipient:
Irvin Henry Philpot Jr.
In recognition of his strong record as a trial advocate of great skill, his reputation for ethics and honesty, and exemplary history of contributing to education and professional development.
2024 Matthew J. Perry Public Service Award Recipient:
The Honorable J. Mark Hayes, II
In honor of the monumental sacrifice and efforts in public service over the course of his career resulting in significant improvement to the community.
2024 Worthy Adversary Award Recipient:
Charles F. Turner, Jr.
In recognition of a defense attorney who deserves to be honored for professionalism, honesty, and ethical behavior.
